The New Jersey Catholic Conference mourns the passing of Pope Francis, who passed away this morning, Monday, April 21 at 7:35 AM (Rome time).
Pope Francis' pontificate emphasized mercy, care for the marginalized, and the urgent call to protect our common home. His life was an example of simplicity, guided by deep spiritual wisdom, and driven by a tireless commitment to dialogue, and human dignity.
As we mourn this immense loss, we also celebrate a life lived in deep fidelity to the Gospel. We pray for the Church and for all who looked to Pope Francis as a source of light and hope. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to shape the heart of the Church for generations to come.
May the Lord grant him eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon him.
