The New Jersey Catholic Conference (NJCC) has reviewed the consumer alert regarding Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) issued jointly by the attorney general and the Division of Consumer Affairs.
CPCs play an essential role in rendering alternative life-affirming options to women facing crisis pregnancies. Equally important, in many instances these centers offer the only source of compassion and comfort to women who choose life and, as a result, feel abandoned and isolated.
The tangible results of CPCs dispel the misconception that the pro-life community only cares about the mother and child up until birth. In addition to providing access to much needed parental services, many CPCs connect women with the resources required to care for themselves and their children well beyond birth. For these reasons, CPCs should make certain their services to mothers and children are beyond reproach. NJCC strongly encourages all CPCs operating in New Jersey to use this as an opportunity to ensure all their policies and practices are honest and open.
