Statement of Sister Patricia Codey, SC, Esq., Catholic Healthcare Partnership on New Jersey ‘Better Care Reconciliation Act’ June 27, 2017
The Catholic Healthcare Partnership of New Jersey (CHCPNJ) is deeply troubled by the U.S. Senate’s ‘Better Care Reconciliation Act.’
Yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that the Better Care Reconciliation Act would leave 22 million Americans without insurance by 2026.
In addition, the proposed changes to Medicaid, the ‘Better Care Reconciliation Act’would strike a crushing blow to New Jersey’s most vulnerable citizens – the disabled, seniors and children who rely on NJ Family Care.
The mission of the CHCPNJ is driven by a commitment to care for all who seek healing and restoration of mind, body, and spirit. We never turn away those in need. Rather welcome them with open arms. The “discussion draft” released by the Senate falls woefully short of this compassionate goal.
